The ninth edition of the event surpasses the 230 participants from this 2023 and confirms cyclists such as Manuela Muresan, Luna Perdomo, Blas Rivero, or Arístides González

The ninth edition of the Fred. Olsen Express Transgrancanaria Bike, which will take place from May 16 to 19, 2024, has exceeded 300 registered participants five months before its start. This figure represents a significant increase compared to the previous 2023 edition, which had the participation of 230 cyclists.

The race, which for the second consecutive year will be included in the UCI calendar in the S2 category, currently has registered participants from Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Argentina, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Sweden, and Uruguay, totaling 11 different nationalities. Among the cyclists already confirmed for 2024 is the Romanian based in Gran Canaria, Manuela Muresan, the champion of the 2020 and 2022 editions. She is joined by other local elite cyclists such as Blas Rivero from Z2 Bike, who finished fifth in the elite category and eighth overall in the last edition, and also became the champion of the Canary Islands in the road category in the elite class in 2023; Tenerife’s Luna Perdomo from Tenerife BikePoint Gspor, who was seventh in the overall women’s classification in the last Transgrancanaria Bike and second in the Master 30 category; and Arístides González, who is returning to the race after being unable to finish in 2023.

The competition format will consist of four open stages. The first stage is 31 kilometers and will take place in Chira, with the start and finish in the Plaza de Cercados de Araña. The second stage will be a 23.5-kilometer time trial starting in Parque Sur de Maspalomas and ending in Ayagaures. For the third stage, covering 45.6 kilometers, participants will travel to Cañón del Águila (start and finish) in San Bartolomé de Tirajana. The fourth and final stage will have its start and finish line in Parque Sur, with a route of 69.7 kilometers. The Fred. Olsen Express Transgrancanaria Bike is an event organized by Arista Eventos with the main sponsorship of Fred. Olsen Express and the support of the Gran Canaria Island Council through the institutions Tourism of Gran Canaria and Gran Canaria European Island of Sport, the Town Hall of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, and Maspalomas Costa Canaria. Additionally, the race has the collaboration of companies Vivac Aventura, Gobik, Emicela, Lorenzo González Automoción, Gofio La Piña, Provital, and Inerza.
