Fred. Olsen Express Transgrancanaria Bike 2024 will open its registrations next Tuesday, November 7th, at 12:00 local time on the official website www.transgrancanariabike.com. This mountain bike race, included in the UCI circuit for the second year, will offer a 48-hour ‘flash’ promotion with significant discounts on registration fees. Additionally, the event’s organizers are once again providing a 30% discount for Canary Islands residents with the aim of promoting the practice of this sport in the archipelago. The race, which will take place from May 16th to 19th, will maintain its format with four open stages, allowing participants to register for any of the four stages.

The eighth edition of the MTB race will introduce some changes to its routes for 2024, making it more accessible and attractive to all types of riders. The epicenter of the event will again be located in Parque Sur (Maspalomas), which will facilitate logistics for participants preparing for each stage.

The first stage will have 31 kilometers and will take place in Chira, starting and ending at Plaza de Cercados de Araña. The second stage will be a 23.5-kilometer chrono stage with a start in Parque Sur and finish in Ayagaures. For the third stage of 45.6 kilometers, participants will ride to Cañón del Águila (start and finish) in San Bartolomé de Tirajana. The fourth and final stage will start and finish in Parque Sur, with a route of 69.7 kilometers. The tracks for each stage are already available for download on the official website.

Carlos González, director of the Fred. Olsen Express Transgrancanaria Bike, mentioned that after “listening to the participants from the previous edition” and “following the recommendations of the UCI,” they have designed “stage routes that are accessible for all types of riders, while maintaining the technical and landscape attraction that characterizes the race.” “For this edition, we wanted to centralize the event in the southern area of Gran Canaria (San Bartolomé de Tirajana) to facilitate participants’ travel and accommodations,” he added.

The Fred. Olsen Express Transgrancanaria Bike is sponsored by Fred. Olsen Express and supported by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria through the institutions of Gran Canaria Tourism Board and Gran Canaria European Sports Island and Maspalomas Costa Canaria. Additionally, the race has the collaboration of the companies Gobik, Emicela, Fuente Umbría, Provital, Chronorace, Gofio La Piña and Inerza.
