The Fred. Olsen Express Transgrancanaria Mountain Bike Race presented today the official race jersey of the year. It is from GOBIK, an international brand specialized in cycling clothing. The Sports Councillor of the City Council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Samuel Henríquez, debuted the jersey that all participants will wear this year. He brings continuous support to sports practice in the south of Gran Canaria, where a wide range of events take place throughout the year.

The jersey is mostly designed in yellow and blue tones which are the islands colours and it is made of a breathable and comfortable fabric that adapts to the cyclist’s body to provide the greatest comfort for daily use on the bike thanks to its elasticity. This jersey also includes:

  • Waist silicone strip for better fixation.
  • Back pockets for carrying food and personal ítems.
  • Sturdy zipper for adjustment depending on the weather.

Henríquez highlighted the growth of the mountain bike race, which is in its seventh edition in the calendar of the International Cycling Union (UCI) and also mentioned that this year San Bartolomé de Tirajana is once again the epicenter of two stages of the Fred. Olsen Express Transgrancanaria Bike. The third stage will start in El Garañón and finish in Chira. And the fourth will start and finish in South Park in Maspalomas, a charming and comfortable environment for cyclists. This stage is also the longest, covering 67 kilometers through Maspalomas, and will conclude the race on May 21.

The firm commitment of the City Council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana to sports practice, combined with tourism, has paid off by transforming the city into the venue of major events throughout the year thanks to its climate. The councillor said “We have had three premises from the Sports Councillor’s office: the payment of subsidies, the improvement of sports facilities, and momentum regain in terms of events,”
Henríquez also added: “We have a calendar of sport events throughout the year that contributes to our international projection. The idea is to promote the fantastic outdoor gym this municipality is.” Transgrancanaria trail running race is one of those events and it holds more than 3,500 participants every year.

This event is sponsored by institutions like Cabildo de Gran Canaria through Turismo de Gran Canaria and Gran Canaria Isla Europea del Deporte, Maspalomas Costa Canaria and Ayuntamiento de Artenara and in collaboration with/partnership with Ahembo, Lorenzo González Automoción, Emicela, Fuente Umbría, Provital Chronorace, Gofio La Piña and Inerza.
