Kortekaas also repeated as best Canary Islands resident, alongside La Palma’s Pedro Rodríguez
Maspalomas hosted this Sunday the queen stage of 70 kilometres, bringing the eleventh edition of the Fred. Olsen Express Transgrancanaria Bike 2026 to a close. The race gathered more than 230 bikers from 13 nationalities, all facing a demanding course starting and finishing at Parque Sur, Maspalomas.
The decisive stage began with the iconic climb through the Ayagaures ravine, which also served as the starting point for the E-Bike category. After reaching the summit, riders alternated fast rolling sections with more technical terrain before crossing the finish line in Maspalomas.
In the women’s race, Tessa Kortekaas once again demonstrated her dominance. The Dutch rider, based in Lanzarote and currently ranked 18th in the UCI standings, claimed her fourth consecutive stage victory to complete a perfect race. Kortekaas controlled her lead from the early stages, climbing alongside France’s Sophie Giovane up to Ayagaures before gradually pulling away to win the stage in 3:23:53. Giovane finished second, while the battle for the Canary Islands resident podium went to Vanessa Lessa, who completed her comeback against Lourdes Bethencourt on the final day.

In the men’s race, the spotlight was on Hans Becking defending his overall lead against debutant Pedro Rodríguez, as well as the duel for the best Canary Islands resident jersey between Rodríguez and Blas Rivero. The pace remained tight in the opening kilometres, especially on the climb to Ayagaures. It was not until Pedrazo Bajo that gaps began to appear, with Luis Ángel Maté and Becking setting the pace at the front.
The battle remained open for much of the stage. Pedro Rodríguez lost time early on but responded midway through the race to overtake Rivero and secure the best Canary Islands resident jersey. At the front, Maté and Becking fought intensely all the way to the finish, where the Marbella rider took the stage victory, repeating his success from last year.

Despite Maté’s stage win, Hans Becking secured his fourth consecutive overall victory at the Fred. Olsen Express Transgrancanaria Bike, reinforcing his dominance in the event. Kortekaas also defended her title, achieving a historic double.
The day also featured the E-Bike stage, won by Jonay Vega, while Óliver de la Cruz topped the overall standings in the newly introduced Half modality.
The awards ceremony was attended by Ramón Suárez, Councillor for Sports of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, and Naima Sow, representative of Fred. Olsen Express.
With this, a thrilling edition of the Fred. Olsen Express Transgrancanaria Bike 2026 comes to a close, once again part of the UCI calendar as an S2 category event.
