Luis Ángel Maté wins the queen stage on the final day, while Kortekaas scores a clean sweep of victories

Elisabet Breval and Blas Rivero crowned fastest Canarians of the tenth edition

The Fred. Olsen Express Transgrancanaria Bike 2025 wrapped up this Sunday with the 70-kilometer queen stage, featuring a demanding route starting and finishing at Parque Sur. Over 230 riders began the longest day with a tough climb through the Ayagaures ravine, the same point where E-Bike participants joined the race. After the ascent, riders faced long, fast sections mixed with technical terrain leading to the long-awaited finish line.

Tessa Kortekaas (Cannondale ISB) had worn the yellow jersey for three days and had no intention of letting it go on the final day. After finishing second last year, she was determined to come back and win, especially after clocking the fastest time in the stage two time trial: “Last year I finished second and I really wanted to return to the Transgrancanaria Bike to go for the win.” Despite holding a solid lead of over eight minutes over Manuela Muresan (Bike Xpert Superbet) in the overall standings, the Dutch rider pushed hard from the start. Both riders tackled the Ayagaures climb together, but by the next checkpoint at Parque Sur, Kortekaas had pulled away, gaining a three-minute advantage.

In third place and staying close was Ada Xinxó (Trideporte), who was also aiming to secure the final spot on the podium. After more than three hours on the bike, the Dutch rider based in Lanzarote celebrated her fourth stage win in four days, finishing in 3:03:11. Muresan and Xinxó followed more than 10 minutes later, with just 39 seconds separating them in a tight finish for second place.

Vanessa Lessa (Iduna) was the fastest Canarian of the stage, finishing in 3:25:48, while Elisabet Breval (GE7 Bike Arucas) came in second just a minute behind and retained the newly earned Canarian leader’s jersey. Montserrat Pereira (Seven Pro Cycling) and Isabel Castro (Bike Point) completed the overall Canarian women’s podium in second and third place, respectively.

In the men’s field, the script was similar to day one, with a lead trio forming early: race leader Hans Becking (Buff Megamo), Luis Ángel Maté (Marbella CC), and Xavier Ariza (Scott Bikes Club Esportiu). The trio rode together for much of the route until Ariza began to lose pace around Cuarterías (km 44.8), turning the stage victory into a head-to-head battle. Unlike the opening stage, this time Maté emerged victorious in the final meters. The rider from Marbella showed his strength throughout the event, with only a puncture on day three keeping him from contesting the lead across all four stages. With the queen stage win, “El Lince” climbed two places in the general classification to finish second overall.

Meanwhile, Hans Becking secured his third consecutive Fred. Olsen Express Transgrancanaria Bike title, cementing his name as a legend of the race, which celebrated its tenth edition this year. Xavier Ariza completed the elite men’s podium in third place. Despite a rear tire puncture in today’s stage, Blas Rivero (Z2 Bike) managed to keep the Canarian leader’s jersey with nearly a 10-minute cushion over Javier Ramos (Loro Parque Los Silos), who was the fastest resident rider on the final stage. Cristian Cejas (Latidos Nueve) took third place in the Canarian men’s general standings.
