The Fred. Olsen Express Transgrancanaria Bike 2025 concludes this Sunday with the queen stage of 70 kilometers in Maspalomas

After yesterday’s evening stage, which finished at the Ayagaures Dam, the riders of the tenth edition of the Fred. Olsen Express Transgrancanaria Bike were preparing for the event’s big new addition this year: the XCO (Cross-Country Olympic) stage in Maspalomas.

The start, with nearly 250 cyclists, took place in three waves from Barranco de Maspalomas, heading towards the finish line at Parque Sur. The atmosphere was fantastic, with families, teammates, and cycling enthusiasts cheering along the route. Ahead of them was a new 5.5-kilometer circuit, introduced this year, where riders completed six laps, the last of which brought them toward the finish line at Parque Sur. A total of 33 kilometers combining technique, tactics, and speed in the south of Gran Canaria.

In the women’s category, the top three in the general classification were practically neck and neck on the first lap: Tessa Kortekaas (Cannondale ISB), Manuela Muresan (Bike Xpert Superbet), and Ada Xinxó (Trideporte). From the second lap onward, Kortekaas started to build a 20-second lead over Muresan, which grew to a minute by the third passage through the technical zone. The yellow jersey holder showed no mercy to her rivals, maintaining an extremely high pace until the end and winning with a margin of more than four minutes (4:05) over the Romanian rider and eight over the Catalan. With one stage left, the women’s podium remains unchanged with the same three protagonists.

In the men’s category, in the early laps, Xavier Ariza (Scott Bikes Club Esportiu) was even faster than the overall leader, Hans Becking (Buff Megamo), gaining slight advantages in the second, third, and fourth laps. However, in the final lap, the Dutchman pulled ahead by a full minute, securing the stage win, his third in three days of competition. Becking had already stated yesterday at Ayagaures that he was excited to debut this new circuit in the Gran Canaria race: “It’s been a while since I’ve done one, and I’ve been really looking forward to it.”

After today’s results, the main change in the general classification is Ariza’s move from fourth to second place, where he now leads Luis Ángel Maté (Marbella CC) by eight minutes. Maté suffered a flat tire during the stage and had held second place until now.

The Canarian leader’s jersey also changed hands, going from Montserrat Pereira (Seven Pro Cycling) to Elisabet Breval (GE7 Bike Arucas) after her great XCO performance, finishing with a time of 1:35:35, almost six minutes ahead of her predecessor. In the men’s category, Blas Rivero (Z2 Bike) continues as leader (3:59:08) with a comfortable advantage of over 10 minutes on Javier Ramos (Loro Parque Los Silos).
