Transgrancanaria Bike Regulations
ARTICLE 1: SPORTIVE ATTITUDE AND RESPECT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT
Transgrancanaria race is held with absolute respect for environment. Traffic circulation won’t be stopped and participants must respect the rules of the road in towns and on roads for public use. Participants will be disqualified from the competition if they display paramilitary behavior, advocate terrorism, show signs of violent or xenophobic behaviour or leave rubbish behind. It is compulsory to respect crops, livestock and private property. Participants will be responsible for all damages they cause.
ARTICLE 2: REGISTRATION, PAYMENT AND CHECK IN
2.1 REGISTRATION AND FORM OF PAYMENT.
- Only registrations made on the Chronorace website will be accepted, by completing the necessary documents and paying the registration fee outlined by credit/debit card (all at once)
- Each participant must correctly fill in all their personal information, as these will be cross-check by the organization during the withdrawal of the dorsal numbers.
- The payment period for registrations will be established from the official opening date of registrations until the day established as the closing date for registrations, or the moment in which the places available for each modality run out. Once this period has elapsed, there is no possibility of registering in any of the modalities of the Transgrancanaria Bike.
2.2 EXCEPTIONALITY OF REFUNDS OF REGISTRATIONS

The inscription implies the reservation of a place. In case of cancellation of the registration the organization will only refund the registration fee if the participant contracted the refund insurance at the time of completing his registration. The cost of the services contracted with the registration will not be refunded. The cost of the refund insurance is 20€ which will be deposited for the expenses incurred, if it is proven by means of an official certificate that the cancellation is made for reasons of major or seriousness. This refund will only be made up to 15 days before the start of the race. After this date, no registration will be refunded.

In order to request any change in the chosen modality, as well as for the transfer of the place from one rider to another, it is established as a maximum, three weeks before the beginning of the race. No changes may be made after this date. If the registrations are closed it will not be possible to make changes of modality or ownership. The request of a change of modality or ownership will have a management cost of 5€.
2.3 EXCEPTIONALITY IN THE COLLECTION OF THE RACE DORSAL
The race number will be collected exclusively at the time of collection of numbers established by the organization. In the event of the participant cannot pick it up, he/she may authorise another person by means of an authorisation, which must be draft by the rider himself and must include the following information: name, surname, and ID of both, the rider and the person authorized. The rider must sign it. The authorization must be sent by email to info@aristaeventos.com and can also be taught at the time of the collection of numbers (it is not necessary to present it printed).
ARTICLE 3: REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION
3.1 GENERAL RULES
All participants must:
– Be at least 18 years old.
– Know and accept the rules of competition.
– Complete the forms of pre-registration and registration correctly.
3.2 DISCLAIMER
Participants registered in Transgrancanaria Bike understand that they participate voluntarily and under their own responsibility during the competition. Therefore, they disclaim any complaint to the organizers, collaborators, sponsors and other participants. The organization won’t be responsible of any accident produced because of imprudence, negligence or ignorance of these regulations. When carrying out the registration, participants agree and accept the document of disclaim.
ARTICLE 4: IMAGE RIGHTS, PUBLICITY AND DATA PROTECTION
4.1 IMAGE RIGHTS
The organization has the exclusive rights on the image of Transgrancanaria Bike and use of audio-visual, photographic and journalistic material. Any media or advertising project requires the prior consent of the organization. Otherwise, legal action will take place.
4.2 PUBLICITY
It is compulsory for participants to use the equipment and advertising material supplied by the organization (numbers, stickers, etc..). The modification, bending or hiding of the advertising material will be penalized. Furthermore, it is the responsibility of participants to maintain the advertising material supplied by the organization (race number, bracelet, sticks…).
4.3 DATA PROTECTION
When carrying out the registration in any category of Transgrancanaria, participants give their consent to the organization for use their personal data for sporting and commercial purposes.
As established in Ley Orgánica 15/1995, de 13 de diciembre, de la Protección de Datos de Carácter Personal (the Data Protection Act), participants have the right to access to the data in case they want to correct or delete information. In that case, you should request it sending an email to info@transgrancanariabike.com.
Participants give the organization their consent to reproduce their name and surname, classification, category of the race, finishing time and image.
ARTICLE 5: TECHNICAL VERIFICATIONS
5.1. BIBS AND TIMING CHIP
The use of the chip and race number provided by the organization must be used throughout the race. The number must be placed visibly in the frontal part of the bike. It may not be bent or cut. Tampering or modifying the number are grounds for immediate disqualification from the race.
5.2. EQUIPMENT CONTROLS
In all controls the compulsory material can be monitored by the organisation.
5.3. EXTERNAL ASSISTANCE
External assistance may be received during the race. It must be produced without blocking other bikers and always according to these regulations and the regulations of the cycling federation.
5.4. STARTING AND FINISHING
The race timer will start the race at the set time with or without the presence of the participants. Participants who are not present within 15 minutes of the start will be disqualified.
ARTICLE 6: CHECKPOINTS
These are mentioned in the route description with a race’s commissioner. Skipping one or more Checkpoints will lead to penalty, wich can result in a sanction or even disqualification from the competition. This penalty will be established by the commissioners. The participant must be sure his/her times are registered in every checkpoint.
6.1 AID STATIONS
The organization has several aid stations for dispensing of liquid, solid or both. Technical assistance may also be provided by the organization.
6.2 AID STATIONS’ CLOSING TIMES
Every aid stations has a particular closing time. Participants who finish a section after the closing time will be automatically taken out of the race.
6.3. PASSING THROUGH CHECKPOINTS
Failure to pass the timing chip control stations is grounds for penalty or even disqualification.
ARTICLE 7: ABANDONING THE RACE
Withdrawals must be made in the Aid Stations. If by accident or injury, the runner cannot reach an aid station, they must follow the rescue procedure by contacting the organization through the Emergency Mobile Phone.
7.1 RESPONSIBILITY OF RACE DIRECTORS
The Race Directors may withdraw any participant from the competition if they are considered to have a diminished physical or technical ability, do not have the required material or their material is not in the appropriate condition to continue.
ARTICLE 8: MEANS OF PROGRESSION AND REQUIRED MATERIAL
Participants are prohibited from using any assistance or implement other than their BTT. Any other means of progression which are not the bicycle, their physical ability or any other stablsiher by the Federación Canaria de Ciclismo, will be forbidden. The non-stop nature of the competition means that participants are sufficiently trained to perform physical activity continuously over several hours and they are able to recover without problems to continue with the race.
8.1 REQUIRED MATERIAL
The organization determines the required material needed to complete the race. To participate in the race every athlete must bring the compulsory material required by the organization along the entire route description:
- ID, passport or driving license (with photo)
- BTT authorised helmet.
- BTT clothing
- Emergency blanket. Minimum measures 100 cm x 200 cm.
- Red tail light. It must be placed in the runner’s back and it must be on during the race. (Except for Starter and Promo).
- Mobile phone with enough credit and charge.
- Useful Water carrier with a capacity of at least 0,5-litres.
- Race number placed in the frontal part of the runner’s bike in a visible place.
8.2 “EL GARAÑÓN” BAGS
The participant of the Two Stages modality will receive in the delivery of dorsal numbers a bag with material that they will be able to use when they think is needed in El Garañón.
Those who wish to make use of this service during the race, must deliver only at the time of collection of dorsal numbers the bag with the material they want to have in El Garañón once the first stage ends. The material must fit in the bag provided by the organization. The organization will transfer it to El Garañón and after the start of the second stage it will be taken to the finish line so that the competitors can pick it up.
The organization is not responsible for items left inside the bags.
On Sunday, riders must pick up bags at the time established in the race program. There will be no pick-up outside of this schedule. The bags not collected will be donated to a social action NGO.
8.3 BIKE SHUTTLE
Participants can hire a shuttle service for their bikes, which will be taken to the start line. The bike must be delivered in the check-in (bib collection) without pedals. The bikes will be treated with safety and blankets will be used to separate them during the transportation. The organization is not responsible for the damages the bikes can experience until the moment the participant receives it back.
ARTICLE 9: SAFETY STANDARDS AND GENERAL BEHAVIOUR
9.1. Every runner has the duty to provide relief to another participant who is in danger or injured and is obliged to inform the nearest control right away. The denial of relief will be penalized with immediate disqualification.
9.2. It is the duty of each runner carrying any rubbish they generate: packaging, paper, organic waste, etc., to the places designated and authorized by the organization.
9.3. All the food packaging carried by the runner must be labelled with the runner’s bib number.
9.4. Every runner must follow the route marked and signposted by the organization. Not following the route or not going through the controls will lead to a sanction, which will be determined by the commissioners, and may result in a penalty or even in disqualification.
9.5. Participants must follow, at any time during the race, the instructions of the members of the organization.
9.6. Participants must display sportsmanship at all times and must respect the other athletes, collaborators and other members of the organization. They must be careful with all facilities provided for the race.
9.7. A runner may withdraw from the race whenever he/she wants, but must do so according to the following:
- Must do so at an aid station and deliver the race number.
- The runner shall assume all liability and responsibility for voluntarily abandoning the race.
- The organization will facilitate the evacuation to the finish area of the runners who have decided to leave race at the time of closure of the aid station in which they may be.
9.8. External assistance: The accompaniment to the participant by another person, whether or not participant, will be considered external assistance and will be penalized.
ARTICLE 10: PENALTIES
Runners will be disqualified for any of the offenses listed above.
There will be a penalty or disqualification of a runner or a team for the following:
10.1. Tampering with route markings or avoiding them.
10.2. Refusing to wear the race number, cutting it or giving it to other person involves the disqualification.
10.3. Refusing to use, changing or modifying the marks (logos, advertisements etc.) of the material given to them by the organization.
10.4. Throwing rubbish during the trip.
10.5. Obstructing another competitor.
10.6. Not having the compulsory material at every checkpoint.
10.7. Ignoring the signs of the organization and referees.
10.8. Not passing through the timing chip check points.
10.9. Not carrying all the compulsory material
10.10 Requesting medical assistance without needing it.
ARTICLE 11: DISQUALIFICATION WITH POSSIBLE PENALTY
11.1. Causing an incident (assault or insult) with a competitor, a member of the organization, the race officials or spectators.
11.2. Causing an accident on a voluntary basis.
11.3. It is the responsibility of the race committee to provide penalties and the amount of these.
ARTICLE 12: CATEGORIES
MALE:
- Júnior (17-18 years old)
- Sub 23 (19-22 years)
- Elite (23-29 years)
- Master 30 (30-39 years)
- Master 40 (40-49 years)
- Master 50 y 60 (50+ years)
MINIMUM PARTICIPATION PER CATEGORIES: The minimum number of participants to be able to create a category will be of 3 bikers with confirmed registration, except the junior category. In case the category does not reach a minimum of 3, participants will classify in the upper category, except the Masters which will classify in the lower one.
FEMALE:
- Júnior
- Elite
- Master
MINIMUM PARTICIPATION PER CATEGORIES: The minimum number of participants to be able to create a category will be of 3 bikers with confirmed registration, except the junior category.
ARTICLE 13: E-BIKE ANSITE
The participation is limited strictly to standard models with assisted pedaling system, with a maximum power of 250w and a power limiter that cuts at 25km / h. The race will have personnel to control that all ebikers participate in the maximum equality of technical conditions. It will not be allowed to compete with more than one battery which will be marked at the start of the test and checked at the end of it.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female classifieds
ARTICLE 14: RACE DIRECTORS
The Race Directors may suspend, shorten, neutralize or stop the race for safety reasons beyond their control (weather, changes in hydrological flow, etc.).
14.1 STEWARDS
They are responsible for the compulsory check points. Failure to obey the instructions of a Steward will result in disqualification. Participants may not request or question the rules, classifications, schedules, etc., from the stewards.
ARTICLE 15: COMPLAINTS
All claims will be accepted upon payment of a € 50 deposit. This deposit will be refunded only if the organization considers the complaint is justified. Complaints shall be in writing and must follow at least one type format, which consist of the following:
- Name and surname of the person who files the claim
- DNI (or passport number)
- Name and surname of affected athletes
- Race Number
- The alleged facts.
Complaints concerning provisional rankings can be made up to 30 minutes after their publication.
ARTICLE 16: SUSPENSION OF THE RACE
Arista Eventos reserves the right to suspend the race for reasons out of their control, such as an alert from the authorities and/ or because of adverse weather conditions. In such a case no refund will be able to cover entries or the expense of the participants.
ARTICLE 17: ACCEPTANCE
Completing the registrarion of Transgrancanaria implies the acceptance of these regulations
MODIFICATIONS
These rules may be corrected, modified or improved at any time by the organization; also any data, rule or section of the route may be changed to ensure the best race possible. When registering, participants are showing their compliance with these rules.
For those aspects not provided in these regulations, the provisions that appear in the document ”Normativa técnica 2016” from the FederaciónCanaria de Ciclismo will be applied.
