Countdown to the eleventh edition of the Fred. Olsen Express Transgrancanaria Bike

The eleventh edition of the Fred. Olsen Express Transgrancanaria Bike, founded in 2016 and organized by Arista Eventos, begins this Thursday, May 14, in the town of Lomo Magullo (Telde). This UCI S2-ranked cross-country marathon stage race brings together more than 230 cyclists from 13 countries to compete over four stages and 160 timed kilometers, with over 3,500 meters of elevation gain in the demanding All Stages format, the premier category of the competition.

Thursday’s opening stage features a fast 21 km course with 841 meters of climbing through the volcanic landscapes of Rosiana. On Friday the 15th in the afternoon, the race moves to the south for a 23.5 km individual time trial climb with 608 meters of elevation gain between Parque Sur in Maspalomas and Ayagaures, which will begin to create gaps among the favorites.

On Saturday the 16th, the third stage (46.1 km) starts and finishes at Cañón del Águila, climbing up to La Sorrueda reservoir—currently full thanks to recent rains, offering a unique landscape—and descending at high speed through the Tirajana ravine, passing through Lomo del Moral, Fortaleza de Ansite, and La Sorrueda. Sunday the 17th features the queen stage: 69.8 km with 1,665 meters of climbing, starting from Parque Sur in Maspalomas to Ayagaures, returning to the park, continuing through the Cuarterías area (Maspalomas–Arguineguín) with relentless rolling terrain, and finishing in Maspalomas.

The Fred. Olsen Express Transgrancanaria Bike is organized by Arista Eventos and sponsored by Fred. Olsen Express. The event is supported by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria through Turismo de Gran Canaria and the Instituto Insular de Deportes, as well as the Government of the Canary Islands through Islas Canarias Latitud de Vida, the Municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, and Maspalomas Costa Canaria.
